Why create your own pins?
Re-pinning is important but the creation of new content is where the power lies in attaining exposure, audience and traction. What I’m going to share is how to easily design your own pins to dominate as a brand.
Two thirds of all pins represent brands and products. Seventy-three percent of Pinners say that content from brands makes Pinterest more useful.
Why wouldn’t you want your brand to be part of this statistic?
Let’s get to it!
How you present your image matters. To start, knowing how to size your image, is where to begin. Pic Monkey created a wonderful chart that breaks it all down:
Vertical images statistically get more clicks and repins. The biggest reason for this is because they’re easier to see. Paired with the fact most Pinterest users are on their mobile devices, it’s important to consider making your pins stick out.
Clarity is pivotal both in the image you use and the text you include. Your imagery needs to be high-resolution while the text clear in explaining what users can expect to find when they click into your pin. Make sure aesthetically that the image supports your brand and message. Keep your choices reflective of who you are. Be consistent in the fonts you use, while focusing on a title that is simple and explanatory without being wordy.
The design of your pin is important but so is the description.
Don’t forget to add in your URL. By copying and pasting your URL under the website section you’re leading all those potential clients straight to your post.
It’s also important to make sure to include a concise, SEO-rich description. This paired with relevant hashtags (as shared in my last blog post), will enhance the possibilities of your pin showing up near the top when someone goes to search for similar content. Remember, it’s all about being precise and easing the search for the viewer. Keep it simple. Keep it clear. Keep it concise.
